don't put yourself at risk

know these 3 things before getting the mona lisa touch procedure

Dr. Rabin lectures internationally and trains physicians to safely perform this life-changing procedure.

I was skeptical, but having tried everything else I was losing hope of ever feeling like myself again. After the first treatment I felt improvement and after the three sessions I am about 90% improved- and that’s a home run for me!

Is The MonaLisa Touch Procedure Right for You?

VAGINAL DRYNESS

Vaginal dryness is one of the main symptom of vaginal atrophy- the thinning of skin that lines the vaginal walls. This occurs during menopause and peaks at about 4 years after your last period. Prior to menopause, the vaginal lining appears plump, healthy, and moist. As estrogen levels decline, the lining of the vagina becomes thinner, more dry, becomes pale, and less elastic. MonaLisa Touch helps restore the tissues to a pre-menopausal state.

VAGINAL BURNING

At menopause, decreased thickness and less collagen in the skin along with less blood supply due to low levels of estrogen can cause the tissues of the vulva and the lining of the vagina to become thinner, drier, and less flexible. Vaginal moisture is reduced, along with decreased lubrication.   Vaginal atrophy also leads to in an increase in vaginal pH, which makes the vagina less acidic. That's not the healthy state of the vagina which is normally at a pH of 3.5. The combination of these factors often leads to vaginal burning and discomfort, and more prone to vaginitis.

VAGINAL ITCHING

With the loss of estrogen, the skin around your vulva and vagina becomes more sensitive and more likely to itch. This can occur before and during menopause. This often leads to scratching, which then makes your skin more itchy, you scratch moreand so on. This is called the itch/scratch cycle and it's difficult to break. Most women experience significant and  benefits after their MonaLisa Touch treatment series. 3 treatments, 6 weeks apart and then just once a year.

PAINFUL URINATION

At menopause there is a dramatic drop in the hormone levels.  Estrogen has many functions, especially on the vagina, bladder and urethra.  It also helps keep skin, bones, your brain , the vagina, bladder and the urethra healthy. The lack of estrogen may also cause the pelvic and bladder-control muscles to become weak, resulting in unexpected urine loss (incontinence.) Improving the blood supply, collagen, elastin and overall health of the vagina, bladder neck and surrounding structures can restore these tissues to their healthy pre-menopausal state and function.

PAIN WITH INTERCOURSE

Nothing can be more stressful to your relationship than experiencing pain during intercourse. Sex benefits you in many ways, even beyond the bedroom. It relieves stress, lowers blood pressure, boosts self-esteem, and improves intimacy. Restore one of the precious shared bonds of your relationship. Don’t let pain and dryness rob you of these benefits. MonaLisa Touch can help bring these benefits back.

PROCEDURE, RESULTS, BENEFITS AND RECOVERY:

That to Expect: Most treated patients report a reduction in dryness, less burning and less pain during intercourse This contributes to a substantial improvement in the quality of life.  The series requires that you complete three treatments which last 5 minutes each, about 6 weeks apart. The results are most noticeable in a month and a half after each of the sessions.  90% of patient feel the benefits at the one year mark and then a single treatment once a year is recommended for maintenance.

There are some minimal risks with this treatment.  Some women report temporary side effects, slight redness or swelling, some discomfort or itching that usually disappears in one to two days.

There are very few exclusion criteria for MonaLisa Touch. Exclusions are related to serious local or systemic diseases.  In general, all women with these vaginal atrophy and related symptoms can benefit from this treatment.

If you’re a woman with vaginal atrophy due to any cause of hormonal changes, then MonaLisa touch may be your ideal treatment.

The procedure consists of a comfortable office-based laser procedure.  It is virtually painless and requires no incisions or sutures and it requires 5-6 minutes (we aim for 30 minutes from your arrival to your departure from our office) for each of the 3 session.  No need for any anesthesia, but an anesthetic cream is available.

During the recovery process, only a few woman have reported a slight localized discomfort following the laser treatment and during the first few days after the session.  Many have reported to have resumed all of their normal routine after one to three days.  It might be recommended to avoid lifting weights or some activities, such as taking a hot bath or physical exercises for a few days.
